Another disappointing loss for the Eagles

December 12, 2025

The Eagles lost a very close game on Monday night by the score of 22-19 in overtime. The media is still complaining about their offensive production, but I think the offense overall looked a whole lot better than in previous games. Their run game was functioning like a normal offense and the receivers were getting open a lot more. Unfortunately, it was the worst game for Jalen Hurts in at least two years. He had four interceptions and a fumble. I sure hope he bounces back with a good game at home against the Raiders on Sunday.

The defense played very well. They had seven sacks on Justin Herbert and only gave up on one big play on the second drive of the game for the Chargers. This Sunday is a must win game against a two-win Las Vegas Raiders team. The Eagles cannot afford to take them lightly. They still have a two-game lead over the Dallas Cowboys in the division and are very likely going to make the playoffs even with this terrible last month of play.

Major League Baseball's winter meetings have come and gone, and there were two big developments that affected the Phillies. First, the Phillies resigned designated hitter Kyle Schwarber to a five-year contract. If he stays healthy, I expect him to have another 40 to 45 home run season next year. I also hope that Bryce Harper stays healthy enough to play first base for the whole season. Kyle is back, so Bryce can’t take a spot at designated hitter if he is banged up.

The other significant thing that happened was the fact that Pete Alonso left the Mets to go to the Baltimore Orioles. Great news for the Phillies that Pete is now in the American League. I think the Phillies next priority should be resigning J.T. Realmuto to a two- or three-year deal as catcher and signing at least one young free agent position player because the starting lineup is pretty old. Most of the returning starters are over 30. New blood will motivate the best players even more. Go Phillies.
