Apple Electric continues holiday lights tradition

Company collects more than 1,000 items for Toys for Tots
December 19, 2024

When days get shorter and temperatures get cooler, it’s time for Apple Electric to set up its annual Christmas light display on Route 24.

Just like they’ve been doing for more than two decades, the Prestipino family has hung more than 50,000 lights on their home/business, in the bushes and even high up on trees.

For those who stop in front, tuning the radio to 88.1 reveals the lights actually dance to the beat of the music.

Complementing the lights are Charlie Brown and the Peanuts crew, as well as the Grinch, his faithful companion Max and Cindy-Lou Who. A manger scene ensures the true meaning of Chirstmas is represented as well.

Altogether, the holiday light display makes for a can’t-miss attraction each year.

Apple Electric and the Prestipinos use the light display to draw attention to their annual Toys for Tots campaign. As of Dec. 17, they had collected more than 1,000 toys this year, including many bicycles. Donations will be accepted through Friday, Dec. 20.

The lights run nightly through Monday, Jan. 6, from dusk until 11 p.m., at 18854 John J. Williams Highway, north of Rehoboth Beach.
