Arbor Day celebration set at Rehoboth Elementary April 16

April 7, 2026

The City of Rehoboth Beach, in partnership with fourth- and fifth-grade classes at Rehoboth Elementary School, will celebrate Arbor Day at 9 a.m., Thursday, April 16, at Stockley Street Park, Rehoboth Beach.

The day will begin with a ceremony that recognizes the grade-level winners of Delaware Forest Service’s Arbor Day Poster Contest. Winners will be presented by the Rehoboth Art League, and all posters will be displayed in the atrium of city hall. This year’s posters are centered around the theme, “Trees are terrific ... for people and places.”

Presentations, competitions and tree plantings will be held throughout the morning. Ashley Melvin from the Delaware Forest Service and Mike Lilly, city arborist, will host student workshops. The students will be planting two trees in the park this year, a bald cypress and a willow oak.

For the 35th year in a row, the City of Rehoboth Beach has been designated a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation. Tree City USA recognizes municipalities that are committed to planting and preserving trees through city policy and community efforts.
