Architect Scott Edmonston of Bethany awarded for two home designs

November 28, 2018

Scott Edmonston, AIA, of SEA Studio Architects took home top honors in two categories during the Delaware Today Home Design awards. SEA Studio’s Layton Residence was awarded for Best Modern Architecture, and its Camp Bobb was awarded Best Beach House.

The annual design competition recognizes work by Delaware architects, designers and contractors. Submitted projects are judged by a panel of architects and industry experts who selected finalists and winners in 18 categories. Winners were announced during a ceremony held Nov. 14 at the Delaware Art Museum in Wilmington. Scott and Jenifer Edmonston of SEA Studio attended the ceremony and accepted the award.

The Layton Residence was designed as a vacation home on the banks of the canal system in South Bethany. The owners wanted a modern, sustainable and fun beach retreat where they could spend summers with their kids and frequent guests. Rachel Kapner of CWI was the interior designer, and the home was built by Shay Gallo Construction.

Camp Bobb is a large, open-plan beach home designed for an extended family of 20 people on the site of the family’s original beach cottage on the ocean in a gated Bethany Beach neighborhood. The house is a bright, welcoming and open home with spectacular ocean views. The interiors of Camp Bobb were designed by Jodi Macklin Interior Design, and the home was built by Hugh H. Hickman and Sons.

SEA Studio Architects is committed to designing beautiful, comfortable and energy-efficient places to live and work.
