Arthur J.E. Sundberg, devoted to family, service
Arthur J.E. Sundberg, 84, passed away peacefully surrounded by family Monday, Aug. 25, 2025, in Dover.
Born Dec. 1, 1940, Arthur lived in Connecticut before settling in Lewes. His professional life was marked by a deep connection to the sea and technology. At University of Delaware Marine Operations, he worked on the R/V Cape Henlopen, where he specialized in repairing electronics. A master diver and small boats captain, Arthur shared his love for diving with both his son and daughter.
Arthur proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War. His service reflected a lifelong commitment to exploration and discipline—qualities that also led him to travel extensively around the world, including time spent in Kuwait.
In retirement, Arthur remained active within his community. He worked alongside Lewes charter boat captains and pursued his interest in radio communication as a licensed ham radio operator. For several years, he volunteered with the Sussex County Ham Fest, contributing his time and expertise generously.
Arthur’s life was one of service, adventure, and dedication to both family and community. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
