Artificial photosynthesis could save the planet

October 27, 2023

The following letter was written to Gov. John Carney with a copy provided to the Cape Gazette for publication.

I believe that artificial photosynthesis is going to be our saving grace regarding climate change. Hear me out. I believe that Delaware can be a catalyst, taking a moonshot approach.

Here is the challenge I put before you. Delaware is uniquely suited to do this.

Although artificial photosynthesis is expensive and not fully understood, it works. The trick is to scale it up and make it less expensive.

I would like you, as governor, to take the lead. We can do this together, as a state, Republican and Democrat alike, as there are no agenda problems.

I do not fully understand artificial photosynthesis, but I will be studying it. Better minds than I will flourish and take off with it.

Rather than wait for me to get up to speed, I believe you can head this up, put the right people to the job, and ask for the money.

I think this will be our one shot at saving this planet, and you are the right person to lead us.
