A long-standing local Memorial Day weekend tradition, the South Coastal Delaware AARP Artisans Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, May 24, at Lord Baltimore Elementary School, 120 Atlantic Ave., Ocean View.
A van will provide transportation from and to offsite overflow parking lots located at Mariners Global Methodist Church on Central Avenue and Miken Builders on Cedar Drive, both in Ocean View.
Sponsored by the South Coastal Delaware AARP Chapter 5226 Scholarship Committee, the fair will include an outdoor farmers market operating from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Arts and crafts will include paintings, pottery and ceramics; textiles including embroidery and quilting, kitchen items, handbags and knitted baby items; jewelry in various media; handmade wood items including furniture, wall hangings, and hand-carved and hand-painted wildlife; metalwork; home décor; photography; fine art; and stained glass.
Proceeds from the artisans fair and farmers market go toward the local AARP chapter’s scholarship fund, which each year awards college scholarships to Indian River High School seniors and adult students at Delaware Technical Community College.
