Artist Jennifer Comero opens show at The Buttery July 31

July 19, 2011

The Buttery Restaurant in historic downtown Lewes will hold a reception for local artist Jennifer Comero from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, July 31.  The reception opens a summer exhibition of Comero's oil paintings which will run from July 31 through Sept. 11.

Comero, who has resided in Rehoboth since the early 1980s, was born and raised in the artist lifestyle. Her father, John Beisel, was a prominent Wilmington artist. After Comero attended Brandywine High School in Wilmington, she continued her studies and graduated from the Maryland Institute College of Art. She has been a self-employed artist for 30 years. She has published nine limited-edition prints, all of which sold within one year of being offered. Comero’s focus, however, is primarily large oils and mixed-media paintings of fish, crabs, mermaids, shells and abstract beach life.

The Buttery, at the corner of Savannah Road and Second Street,  has routinely opened its doors and offered its walls to local artists, giving them the opportunity display their work while not accepting a commission,  allowing the artist to pass along the value to the collector.
