Artist reception with Planet Delaware scientist set Sept. 14

In partnership with Planet Delaware weekend, Gallery 50 will host a reception at 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 14, showcasing the works of emerging artist Dr. Aysha Akhtar, at 50 Wilmington Ave., Rehoboth Beach.

A Pakistani-American artist based in Maryland, Akhtar draws deep inspiration from the natural world’s exquisite shapes, forms and colors. In response to the challenges of climate change and environmental destruction, her work focuses on celebrating the beauty and resilience of nature through both abstract and representational art.

One of Planet Delaware’s featured speakers, Akhtar is a double board-certified neurologist, preventive medicine specialist and distinguished leader in animal ethics.

"Gallery 50 first hosted an artist as part of Rehoboth Beach VegFest in 2014, and I am thrilled to be continuing the tradition," said Tara Sheldon, VegRehoboth president.
