Artist reception with Richard Thibodeau set July 9
Local artist Richard Thibodeau will showcase his unique talent at a solo art exhibition on display at CAMP Rehoboth from Tuesday, July 5 to Friday, July 28.
A reception with the artist will be held from 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday, July 9.
In Renewed Perspective on Glass, Thibodeau takes what was once an old artistic technique and updates it with a current vision and a new flair, while incorporating vibrant colors and dimension.
Thibodeau’s art reflects his endless love of experimentation with diverse types of media. Through this experimentation, he was inspired to reintroduce reverse painting on glass, a 1900s period technique whereby the painting is done on the back of a glass panel with the details done first. The finished work is then seen correctly from the opposite side of the glass. Thibodeau has taken this ancient technique, incorporated art deco flair, and modernized it for the 21st century audience.
Thibodeau has exhibited at the Vienna Art Society and the Fairfax Art League in Virginia, and the 205 Lavinia Street Gallery in Milton. He is a frequent exhibitor at CAMP Rehoboth’s Handmade Art Market. Although Thibodeau has won many awards and accolades for his extraordinary art, he is most motivated by viewers’ response to his work.
“We are thrilled that Richard will bring this exquisite art form to CAMP Rehoboth,” said Leslie Sinclair, CAMP Rehoboth arts director. “From mermaids to mermen to martinis, this exhibit is really fun, and his under-glass technique provides a unique depth and luminescence to each piece.”
CAMP Rehoboth is at 37 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach.
