Artists reception set Nov. 5 at Nassau Valley Vineyards

October 27, 2022

Two popular area artists, Dale Sheldon and Marybeth Paterson, will display their new work at Nassau Valley Vineyards. An opening reception will be held from 3 to 5 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 5, at 32165 Winery Way, Lewes.

The two display their paintings as partners at Gallery One in Ocean View. They also have been part of a variety of regional shows, and won awards in regional and national competitions.

“We are so happy to have these accomplished artists on display at our facility,” said NVV owner Peggy Raley-Ward. “It is a great opportunity to open our vineyard facilities and surroundings to visitors while showcasing some of the top local artists. It’s a fun and engaging event for area residents where they can explore both.”

Sheldon’s colorful, realistic work in acrylic features familiar scenes from the area painted with an appealing palette and using interesting compositions that focus on special moments that make area wildlife, beaches and marshes memorable. She often paints scenes from two Chesapeake Bay islands, Tangier and Smith, sharing their fragile but picturesque scenery. Visitors to Gallery One often remark that her work feels very familiar to them but also very distinctive.

Paterson’s bold colors and dramatic compositions often capture sailboats, floral arrangements, marshland and eye-catching landscapes, sometimes on large canvases. The bigger complex shapes in her paintings include subtle shifts that bring them to life, while details accurately capture the elements depicted in her unique work.

The reception will offer visitors an opportunity to meet the artists and see their display, which features original oil and acrylic paintings from the artists, along with a selection of reproductions.

Nassau Valley Vineyard is open year-round from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday.
