July 11, 2025
Diane Neubauer

This 36-year-old mother of two shattered the course record for women at the 35th annual Firecracker 5K July 5 in Rehoboth Beach, blistering the course in a time of 16:31 to beat all but two men in the field of 467 runners. The Ambler, Pa. resident runs for the Liberty Track Club outside Philadelphia. In 2024, she won her first major marathon, winning the Guthrie Wineglass Marathon in New York in a course record time of 2:42.46. Diane coaches the cross country team at Germantown Academy outside Philadelphia. She owns personal-best times of 57:28 for 10 miles, 1:17:32 for the half marathon and 9:51:18 indoors in the 3,000 meters

Shane Reynolds

"Shane Reynolds is a true, all-around, athletic baseball player," said Lewes 8-10 manager Patrick Jackson. "He pitches, plays middle infield, tracks fly balls in the outfield and presents a threat when he is up to bat. Shane will run, dive and give 100% every play – it’s just who he is." Shane is leading his team with an .818 batting average over four games. He has nine hits, five RBIs and five runs scored. Shane puts in countless hours off the field to become the best player he can be. A rising fifth-grader at Lewes Elementary School, he plays travel baseball for the Bombers and competes in Ninja Warriors. When not on the diamond, he can be found fishing or relaxing at the beach with his friends and family.

Eric Westog

This 30-year-old from Chelsea, Mich., won the Firecracker 5K in Rehoboth Beach July 5, cherry bombing the field in an explosive time of 15:06.8. It was one of the fastest times ever run in the 35-year history on the Rehoboth course. Eric also won the race in 2018, running 15:48, while his wife Lauren was women’s winner with a 19:23 clocking. Eric graduated from the University of Georgia with a degree in religion and communication. Eric owns a personal-best time in the marathon of 2:19:41, which he accomplished in Indianapolis in 2024. Eric won the Race for the Ribbon 5K in 2023 in 15:17. Lauren won the women's title in 21:04.

Pyper Willey

Pyper has been the girl in the pitching circle for the Milton 8-10 all-star team that’s made its way to the finals of the winner's bracket. In a game against Lewes, all nine outs were recorded via strikeout. The 10-year-old collected two hits and scored twice in the game. Pyper followed that performance by dominating in a 4-2 come-from-behind victory over Georgetown. She only allowed one hit and two runs, while striking out 15. With Milton trailing 2-1 in the top of the fourth, Pyper walked and stole her way to home to tie the game. Pyper has been playing with her brothers and sisters since she was young, but became serious about pitching 10 months ago. She plays travel ball for the Delmarva Heat 11U Willey Team.
