Atlantic Sands enters phase two of upgrades

November 23, 2013

Preparations for the second round in a series of upgrades and enhancements scheduled for the Atlantic Sands Hotel & Conference Center at 101 N. Boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach have begun.

Michael Ludden, general manager, indicates the south sidewalk on Maryland Avenue will be temporarily closed during demolition and construction. Beach and Boardwalk access will still be available on the north side of Maryland Avenue. Due to the nature of the work being done and the hours of construction, Ludden expects the impact to other guests in the hotel to be minimal to none.

The first phase of upgrades and enhancements to this landmark oceanfront hotel, which included updating 78 suites on the west wing of the hotel, was completed this past spring. Work getting underway now, scheduled to be completed by early 2014, will include a number of upgrades and enhancements to up to 28 oceanfront suites and rooms on the northeast wing of the hotel, and will include the highly sought-after bridal suites equipped with Jacuzzi tubs.

Barbara Brewer, director of sales, reported that plans are also in place for a beautiful new three-tiered paver pool deck and an entirely new outdoor oceanfront pool designed with fountains, special lighting and handicap access. A new paver deck for the popular outdoor café at the Atlantic Sands Hotel & Conference Center is included in the design. Brewer said beds in all rooms and suites of the hotel will be replaced with plush new Serta Perfect Sleepers by the end of this second phase of upgrades.

The Atlantic Sands Hotel & Conference Center has 180 guest rooms; a beach house; two condos; more than 10,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space; an outdoor oceanfront pool; a full-service, seasonal oceanfront restaurant, café and coffee shop; and complimentary Wi-Fi service for guests to enjoy 365 days of the year.
