The last Monday in May brings Memorial Day. Many of us will be on vacation or at a backyard barbecue. It is also a time when Americans should be reminded of the cruelties of war and the cost of freedom. Gravesites worldwide, with small American flags waving in the breeze, attest to the dedication of American GIs over the years. It is appropriate that we remember all the young men and women who gave their lives for our nation. It is also important to the survivors and descendants of those heroes to know that Americans are still grateful for their sacrifice. Please help keep the spirit of Memorial Day alive and attend a ceremony in your town.
