Author Alka Joshi to discuss new historical novel at Lewes library May 5
The Lewes Public Library, History Book Festival and Browseabout Books will welcome international bestselling author Alka Joshi for a discussion and signing of her new book, “Six Days in Bombay” at 5 p.m., Tuesday, May 5, at the library, 111 Adams Ave., Lewes, and streaming via Zoom.
This sweeping tale of identity and self-discovery takes readers from Bombay to Prague, Florence, Paris and London, to uncover the mystery behind a famous painter's death. Joshi uses the life of painter Amrita Sher-Gil, the "Frida Kahlo of India," as inspiration for the story's beginning to explore how far people will travel to determine where they truly belong.

Alka Joshi is the author of the bestselling Jaipur Trilogy, and her debut novel, “The Henna Artist,” immediately became a New York Times bestseller, a Reese Witherspoon Book Club pick, an LA Times bestseller, and an Amazon and Goodreads favorite. Because she started her writing career at age 62, Forbes selected Joshi as one of 50 Women Over 50 who are shattering age and gender norms. Joshi was born in India and came to the U.S. with her family at age 9.
