Barbara Curtis will bring new ideas to Lewes BPW

May 5, 2023

I am wholeheartedly supporting the candidacy of Barbara Curtis to become a member of the directors of the Lewes Board of Public Works. As a neighbor and friend, I know her to be community-oriented and fair-minded. As an activist, Barbara is a member of two city committees (BPW Mitigation Committee and the planning commission’s environmental subcommittee) that are relevant to the operations and services of the Lewes BPW. Barbara is a constant participant in city meetings, where she speaks up, and always has something sensible and constructive to say.

I have found her to be a person with a firm grasp of the changing circumstances facing the BPW and, most helpfully, she is able to articulate them in a way that is understandable to folks who are not well versed in their details and complexities.

Barbara has a master’s degree in environmental science (Drexel University) and solid business credentials earned as a result of her many years of environmental management experience with manufacturing multinationals Johnson Matthey Inc., General Instrument Corp. and General Semiconductor Inc.

Her environmental background in large corporate settings has prepared her to look at issues thoroughly and objectively while not losing sight of the goals. I have seen that she consistently seeks what is real and doesn’t duck the tough decisions.

Perhaps most important is that if elected, she will bring a fresh set of eyes and a different perspective that will lead to alternative ways of looking at problems and data. This can, more than likely, lead to the consideration of valid alternative viewpoints and questions.

These are some of my reasons for supporting Barbara’s candidacy. I hope you will join me in supporting her by casting your vote Saturday, May 13, for Barbara Curtis to be a member of the directors of Lewes BPW. She is perfect for the job!!
