Barbara L. Long, enjoyed family time

Barbara Lynn Long, 71, of Millsboro passed away Friday, Aug. 3, 2018, in her home with her family by her side. 

Mrs. Long was born Nov. 7, 1946, in Chester, Pa., to the late Clement and Dorothy K. May Terry. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Frederick W. Long; and two brothers, Clement “Chip” E. Terry and Ross E. Terry.

Barbara was raised in Aston, Pa. (Old Ridge), and graduated from Sun Valley High School. She worked as a CNA at Fair Acres Nursing Home. Barbara loved the Harrington Casino, spending time with her loving family by the pool sipping her Pina Coladas, and going to the beach and the boardwalk. She also loved collecting knickknacks, doing the jitterbug, going to the Hideaway to watch her son Mike sing karaoke, eating Stockley Tavern food, and enjoyed her time with her family at Disney.

She is survived by four children: Andrew Smith (Christina), Michael J. Smith, Christine Smith (Marcell), and Jeffrey S. Smith (Richard); 10 grandchildren: Amanda (Mike), Ashley, Andrew, Alicia, Anthony, Autumn, Skylar, Zayden and Joey; six great-grandchildren, Mason, Tony, Adryanna, Audrey, Louie, and Lincoln. She also leaves behind special lifelong friends Andrew C. and Isabelle Smith, and Wayne and Mary Bacon, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and many friends.

A Celebration of her Life will be held at her home from noon to 5 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 12.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Compassionate Care Hospice, 20165 Office Circle, Georgetown, DE 19947.
