Barger leaving Main Street
Rehoboth Beach Main Street Executive Director Jenny Barger is leaving the organization after two years.
The Main Street Board of Directors said in a statement, “The Board of Directors of Rehoboth Beach Main Street would like to thank Jenny Barger for her work over the past two years as our executive director. Jenny played a large role in the success of our events and the growth of our organization. We sincerely wish her much luck with all of her future endeavors. She will be missed by the staff, board and donors.”
Barger is leaving to start her own business and to work part-time for the Lewes Historical Society, representatives from Main Street said. Barger is out of town on family vacation and unavailable for comment.
Barger took over as executive director two years ago from Fay Jacobs, who had run the day-to-day operations of the organization for a decade.
Main Street representatives said the organization supports Barger's decision and will soon be advertising for a replacement.
Commissioner Kathy McGuiness, who helped found Rehoboth Main Street and serves as secretary on the board of directors, said of Barger, "We are going to miss her. It's bittersweet. We're proud of her and we're sorry to see her go."
