Bayhealth recently announced a new partnership with Gift of Life Donor Program that enhances the organ and tissue donation process through a secure data integration project.
Bayhealth is now the third hospital in the nation – and the first in Delaware – to go live with this innovative technology.
At the center of this collaboration is an application called Copernicus, which enables clinical data from Bayhealth’s Epic electronic health record system to flow directly and securely into Gift of Life’s electronic donor record system, True North. This automated connection ensures the accuracy of shared information, and gives care teams more time to focus on patients and their families.
“This partnership represents an exciting leap forward in how we honor the wishes of patients and their families, and how we continue to improve care during life’s most difficult moments,” said Terry Murphy, MHSA, FACHE, Bayhealth president and CEO. “By securely sharing accurate and timely information with Gift of Life, we’re ensuring that every opportunity for organ and tissue donation is supported with compassion, clarity and clinical excellence.”
This integration enhances collaboration between Bayhealth and Gift of Life teams, improving response times and providing a stronger support system for families making the decision to donate.
Community members are encouraged to consider registering as organ and tissue donors. One donor can save up to eight lives and enhance the lives of many more. To learn more, go to Donors1.org.
