Bayhealth celebrates Tompkins' ACHE senior-level executive award
Bayhealth announced James Tompkins is the recipient of the 2025 American College of Healthcare Executives Senior-Level Executive Regent Award for Delaware. Tompkins serves as senior director of operations, rehabilitation services at Bayhealth.
To earn the award, nominees must demonstrate innovative and creative management; participate in local, state or provincial hospital and health association activities; and contribute to the development of others in the healthcare profession.
John D. Shevock, FACHE, FACMPE, senior director of the oncology service line at Bayhealth and current ACHE regent for Delaware, commended Tompkins for his dedication to both patient care and his team. “James has a remarkable approach to serving others,” Shevock said. “He leads with humility and empathy, constantly striving to improve.”
“No journey is ever walked alone,” said Tompkins. “I owe much of my success to the incredible mentors who have inspired me throughout my career, the leaders who have challenged me to grow, and the patients who trusted me in their care. Each has shaped me into the person I am today.”
Meredith Sullivan, MS, CCC-SLP, FACHE, MBA, Bayhealth rehabilitation services manager, also praised Tompkins' leadership. “James fosters collaboration and brings together all disciplines,” she said. “His commitment to nurturing talent is evident through his dedication to the clinical ladder program in rehabilitation.”
Tompkins was recognized at the annual Breakfast with the Regents event held April 29 at the University of Delaware. This signature event hosted by the ACHE of Greater Philadelphia Chapter brings healthcare leaders from Delaware, Pennsylvania and southern New Jersey together to highlight critical issues facing the healthcare industry and recognize excellence in leadership.
