Bayhealth leader honored for supporting military service

November 10, 2025

Air Force Reservist Mackenzie Soto, a Bayhealth professional development associate, recently nominated her manager, Angeline Dewey, Bayhealth Clinical Practice and Professional Development senior director, for the Patriot Award — a national honor presented by the Office of the Secretary of Defense Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve.

Dewey, who serves as the director of Bayhealth’s Education Department, was recognized for her exceptional support of Soto in balancing civilian duties with military service. The award highlights supervisors who go above and beyond in supporting employees who serve in the National Guard or Reserve.

“The Patriot Award represents more than just a certificate — it’s a reflection of the encouragement, understanding and flexibility that leaders like Angel show every day,” said Soto. “Her support makes it easier for me to fulfill both my civilian responsibilities and my military obligations.”

The ESGR Patriot Award is part of a Department of Defense program designed to promote cooperation and understanding between Reserve Component Service members and their civilian employers. The award was presented to Dewey in a surprise recognition event at Bayhealth.
