Bayhealth mobile unit to hold free clinical breast exam events
As part of its Go Pink! Grow Hope initiative, the Bayhealth Cancer Institute is hitting the road to deliver free clinical breast exams, health education and resources to communities it serves.
Through its mobile health unit, Bayhealth is removing barriers to care by offering no-cost, no-referral and no-insurance-required breast exams at events in Sussex and Kent counties. The effort supports early detection of breast cancer and emphasizes the importance of regular exams, especially for women age 40 and older.
“Early detection saves lives, and by meeting people where they are, we’re making that lifesaving care more accessible than ever,” said John Shevock, FACHE, FACMPE, executive director, Bayhealth Cancer Insitute, and senior director, oncology service line. “Go Pink! Grow Hope is more than a campaign; it's a commitment to proactive health, empowerment and hope.”
Two Sussex County mobile events are scheduled where individuals may receive a clinical breast exam from a licensed healthcare provider. Appointments are encouraged but not required. Walk-ins are welcome.
Bayhealth Mobile Health Unit will be on site from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 27, at Calvary Church, 301 NE Front St., Milford.
Bayhealth will be at Milford Senior Center during the Thrive Milford Event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 24, 111 Park Ave., Milford.
Those in need of follow-up mammograms will be referred to appropriate services. On-site support will include breast health education, navigation resources and additional health services at select locations.
