Bayhealth salutes Delaware National Guard

Service members provided support during Omicron surge
February 28, 2022

From stocking medical supplies to preparing meals for patients, and so much more, members of the Delaware National Guard have been helping Bayhealth at its Kent and Sussex campuses during the Omicron-variant surge of COVID-19.

To show these dedicated service members its sincere gratitude to them for this invaluable support in caring for patients and the community, Bayhealth held thank-you celebrations in the main lobby of the hospitals at its Kent and Sussex campuses Feb. 18.

During the events, Bayhealth staff cheered for the Delaware National Guard service members and expressed their thanks, while Bayhealth leaders and nurses gave each service member a bag filled with Bayhealth swag as small tokens of appreciation.

“We are deeply appreciative of the Delaware National Guard for supporting us here at Bayhealth,” said Jennifer Fields, Bayhealth critical care nurse manager. “Their willingness to step into a hospital setting and carry out a range of duties without question was admirable. The assistance that they provided to all our teams during these challenging times has meant the world to us. We commend each of these service men and women for the hard work and dedication that they have shown here at Bayhealth. We thank them for their continued service to the community and to our country.”

More than 40 members of the Delaware National Guard provided support across Bayhealth over the past several weeks, working side by side with employees in various departments and clinical units.
