Man, 66, dies in Bridgeville grain tank

A Bridgeville man died April 10 after he was trapped in a grain tank, according to a police report.

Delaware State Police and Bridgeville Fire Co. were called about 4:50 p.m. to Evans Farm on Redden Road for a report of two men trapped in a grain tank. Police said two Bridgeville men, one 66 and the other 20, had entered the tank to loosen an auger that was clogged with corn. While they were inside the tank, the report said, corn from above fell on the men, trapping them. 

Rescue crews worked to the remove the men, and the 20-year-old was taken to an area hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries. The second man was found and pronounced dead at the scene. His name is being withheld pending notification of his family.
