Effective this holiday weekend, patrons may sit at bars in the Cape Region with certain restrictions, state officials announced Sept. 1 during Gov. John Carney’s weekly COVID-19 briefing.
Delaware Health Systems Protection Chief Jamie Mack said beach-area businesses have demonstrated improvements and seriousness regarding COVID-19 precautions after the modification to the state-of-emergency declaration closed bar areas in coastal communities on July 3.
To comply, patrons must have reservations for bar service and order food; seats must be socially distanced between people from different households; and businesses must follow guidance outlined in Delaware’s Phase 2 Reopening Plan.
