Beach Bins, an independent, family-owned garbage bin cleaning service based in Lewes, officially launched in June 2025. The business offers an environmentally friendly solution for cleaning residential trash and recycling bins throughout Sussex County.
The Beach Bins process is designed to be quick and convenient, with all scheduling and service coordination handled through the business’ website. At the core of the service is a custom-built, self-contained cleaning trailer. The treatment typically takes place immediately after a customer’s regularly scheduled trash pickup. Beach Bins promptly arrives at the curbside and uses 360-degree spray heads and pressurized water heated to more than 200 degrees to clean the bins in just 30 seconds, reaching every interior surface. The bins are then disinfected and deodorized using an eco-friendly solution to eliminate 99% of bacteria and germs before being returned to their designated location, fully sanitized and ready for use.
Customers will have several cleaning plans from which to choose.
“The service is pretty basic,” said Beach Bins owner Brad Mauro. “We sanitize and clean residential trash bins or cans. “We literally show up on site and pull their bins out and spray them down, clean them, sanitize them, wipe them down, dry, and put them back.”
Mauro moved to Lewes with his family in 2022. The idea for Beach Bins originated from a personal family experience. His mother, who was undergoing chemotherapy, needed a safe and sanitary way to manage her trash bins, which she was required to keep in her garage due to local residential restrictions. Concerned about the health risks, Mauro recognized a gap in local services and began researching professional bin-cleaning options, discovering a clear need in the area. He ultimately ended up turning his mother’s need into a business that now serves homeowners across Sussex County.
“So that was the genesis of it,” said Mauro. “My mom saw the problem and we saw the solution.”
Looking ahead, Beach Bins aims to continue steady growth, with a goal of expanding to more than 1,000 households over the next five years. Plans include adding additional trailers and transitioning the operation from a side business into a full-time venture.
“We take pride in being local and supporting locals,” said Mauro. “I’m not trying to be a trash bin cleaner for all of Delaware; I am focused on Lewes, Rehoboth and Dewey. I really want to be a part of the community and stay in the community.”
