Beach movie and bonfire nights resume in Dewey

Bring beach chairs and obey social distancing rules

The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce and major sponsor Weis Markets will provide families with movies and bonfires on the beach in Dewey again this year.

Movies will start at approximately 8:30 p.m., Mondays on the beach at Dagsworthy Avenue. Movie admissions are donation-based. Attendees are asked to bring beach chairs and remember to practice social distancing. Here are dates and movie titles: June 29, “The Secret Life of Pets 2”; July 6, “Ralph Breaks the Internet”; July 13, “Toy Story 4”; July 20, “Aladdin” (2019 live action version); July 27, “The Lion King” (2019 live action version); Aug. 3, “Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation”; Aug. 10, “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World”; and Aug. 17, “Frozen 2.”

For s’more fun, bonfires will be held from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesdays on the beach at Dagsworthy Avenue. A $1 donation gets roasters a marshmallow, and sticks can be borrowed for roasting. Again, attendees are asked to bring beach chairs and remember to practice social distancing. Bonfire on the beach dates are July 1, July 8, July 15, July 22, July 29, Aug. 5, Aug. 12, and Aug. 19.

Parking in Dewey Beach is free from 5 to 11 p.m., Monday to Wednesday.

These events are weather-dependent. In case of inclement weather, cancellations will be determined no later than 7 p.m. on movie dates and 6 p.m. on bonfire dates.

Notice of cancellation will be posted to the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce Instagram and Facebook pages. Staff will notify Dewey Beach accommodations of cancellations made prior to the start of an event. If weather is clear, events will take place as scheduled but may end early due to weather conditions.
