Beach Slam tournament returns Dec. 26-27

Field expanded to eight teams this year

The Beach Slam Basketball Tournament returns to Cape Henlopen High School with a slate of boys’ basketball games Dec. 26-27.

In its second year picking up where Slam Dunk to the Beach left off, the Beach Slam will field eight Delmarva teams. Games tipoff each day at noon, 2, 4 and 6 p.m.

This event is being presented and sponsored by the Cape Henlopen Basketball Booster Club with the help of the business and government community. 

Representing Maryland in the tournament will be Broadneck from Annapolis, Patterson Mill from Bel Air and St. Michael’s from Talbot County. The Delaware teams comprise Odessa, Early College, Brandywine, St. Elizabeth and host Cape Henlopen.

St. Elizabeth will take on St. Michael in the Bay Bracket at noon, Dec. 26. That game will be followed by the second Bay Bracket matchup between Brandywin and Patterson Mill at 2 p.m.

The Ocean Bracket’s first game will be at 4 p.m. between Odessa and Broadneck. That will be followed by the game between Cape and Early College at 6 p.m.

The Bay Bracket consolation game is set for noon, Dec. 27, with the Ocean Bracket consolation following at 2 p.m.

The Bay Bracket championship is set for 4 p.m., followed by the Ocean Bracket championship at 6 p.m.

Admission is $10 each day.
