Beacon boys’ basketball defeats Sussex Academy 55-15

The Beacon boys’ basketball squad came out hot and never cooled Jan. 19, as they handed a 55-15 defeat to the visiting Sussex Academy team. The Vikings move to 7-0 on the season, while the Seahawks are 3-4.

Daveyon Conquest and Lamar McCoy led the Vikings with 14 and 12 points, respectively. Oz Daisey finished with six points, while Jameson Tingle, Jordan Thomas and Liam Ramsey tallied four. Trey Batson, Mikiah Jackson, Mikey Thompson, Navin Duffy and Chris Carrier rounded out the scoring with a basket each.

Sussex Academy’s Richard Nock led the Seahawks with six points. Noah Keglovits scored four, Braxton Figgs tallied a three-pointer, and Mitchell DiSabatino and Kenton James each had a point.

The Vikings took a 14-5 lead at the end of the first quarter, then blew the top off the gym with a 23-3 run in the second to garner a 37-8 halftime lead. An 18-7 second half sealed the 55-15 victory for the Vikings.

The Vikings travel to Georgetown Middle Monday, Jan. 24, while the Seahawks go to Georgetown Friday, Jan. 21.

Press Association. A Delaware native, Dan graduated from Cape in 1972 and returned as a teacher and coach in the 1980s. He retired from the classroom in 2016.
