Beacon girls go undefeated in regular season

The Beacon Middle School girls’ basketball team finished the regular season a perfect 11-0 with a 45-10 victory over Georgetown Middle School Jan. 29.
Diana Nauman led the Lady Vikings with 10 points, while Morgan Mahoney added eight and Lauryn Head dropped six.
Beacon started off hot, scoring 19 points in the first quarter to the Knights’ four, and the Vikings took a 26-point lead into the locker room at the half 30-4. They kept up the pressure in the second half, allowing just six points in the third quarter and shutting out Georgetown in the last period to put a 45-10 final in the book.
“We have had a monumental season,” said head coach Sam Purple. “Our four eighth-graders [Mehkia Applewhite, Ella Rishko, Head and Mahoney] are phenomenal, and they are definitely players to look for at the high school. I was also very impressed with our bench. They came in and ran our offense and played great defense.”
The boys’ team garnered a 39-30 victory to close their regular season 8-2. Hank D’Ambrogi and Dane Robertson led the Vikings with eight points each. Robertson hit two three-pointers in the game. Zimere Bolden and Kay'von Allen added seven. Tiarnan Hefferan put five on the scoreboard.
Trazmeer Willis led Georgetown Middle with 12 points. The Knights finished their regular season at 2-8.
