Beacon, Mariner soccer teams play to 2-2 tie

The soccer teams of Beacon and Mariner middle schools battled to a 2-2 tie Nov. 1 at Cape’s Legends Stadium.
Mariner got on the scoreboard first when sixth-grader Charlie Perlingiero found the back of the net off an assist from seventh-grader Austin Tyndall. Mariner took a 1-0 lead into halftime.
Beacon leveled the match when Oscar Ventura-Velasquez scored midway through the second half.
Mariner recaptured the lead when Tyndall scored off an assist from Perlingiero.
Then with time winding down, Beacon’s Kendrick Ventura scored the match’s equalizer.
Mariner goalkeeper Jason Baker was credited with six saves.
Beacon completes the season with a 6-4-1 record, while Mariner finishes 4-2-2.
