Students in sixth, seventh and eighth grade at Beacon Middle School recently had the opportunity to explore a wide range of career possibilities during an engaging career fair that brought local community members into the school.
Professionals representing various fields including healthcare, law enforcement, skilled trades, business and public service spent time with students sharing insights about their careers, educational pathways and day-to-day responsibilities. The event provided students with a valuable chance to ask questions, make connections and begin thinking about their own futures.
During the event, the school gymnasium was transformed into an interactive learning environment where students gained firsthand knowledge from the guests. The experience aligned with the school’s commitment to college and career readiness, helping students better understand the opportunities available to them beyond middle school.
“This event is all about exposing students to the many possibilities that exist for their futures,” said Nicole Hughes, AVID teacher and career fair organizer. “By connecting them with professionals from our community, we’re helping students see the relevance of what they’re learning today and how it can translate into meaningful careers tomorrow.”
The career fair also highlighted the strong partnership between the school and the local community, with volunteers eager to give back by inspiring the next generation.
Beacon Middle School organizers look forward to continuing this tradition, ensuring students are equipped with the knowledge, motivation and confidence to pursue their goals.
