Bethany Beach Patrol held its first reunion party July 16 at the Mason Dixon Post 7234 VFW in Ocean View.
Bethany Beach Patrol celebrated its 90th anniversary with a party for all past and present lifeguards. All were invited to bring their family or significant others for a fun evening of live music, and delicious food and drinks. Proceeds will fund the Ed Dean Memorial Scholarship, which is awarded to one lifeguard each season.
BBP Capt. Joe Donnelly said an alumni network is also in the works. The concept is to have alumni lifeguards available to assist current lifeguards with their next steps in life. The reunion was a positive platform to help further connections. It was a tremendous turnout, and the entire evening went swimmingly.
