Betty Grodecour Gleeson, beloved mother
Betty Grodecour Gleeson, 101, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 24, 2025, at Sheridan Assisted Living, Pasadena, Md.
Born Sept. 16, 1923, in Donora, Pa., she was the beloved daughter of Emil and Margaret Grodecour. Betty grew up in Monongahela, Pa., and graduated from Monongahela High School. She attended the College of William and Mary and was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. As a young woman, Betty was well known as an assistant in her father’s pharmacy in Monongahela. Later in life, Betty was a volunteer for Beebe Hospital Auxiliary in Lewes. She enjoyed her friends and neighbors in The Pines neighborhood of Rehoboth Beach, as well as visits from her children and grandchildren.
She was married to Charles F. Gleeson, who passed away in 2004. Her beloved daughter, Susan R. Dieter, passed away in June of 2022. Betty’s brother, Rex Grodecour of Monongahela, passed away in 2002.
Betty is survived by her son, Charles G. Gleeson of Santa Fe, N.M.; son, T. Jeffery Gleeson and wife Rhonda of Severna Park, Md.; son, Robert Gleeson and wife Anne of Arnold, Md.; grandson, Brian Gleeson and wife Michele of Arnold; granddaughter, Caroline Gleeson-Frizzell, husband Justin and great-grandson Miles of Pasadena, Md.; granddaughter, Molly Scott and great-grandson Hero of Seattle, Wash.; and granddaughter, Claire Lucente and husband Matt of Davidsonville, Md.
Betty will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
A celebration of life will be held at a family gathering in the fall.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals in Betty’s memory.
