Bike to the Bay cyclists pedal through Sussex

Bikers raise funds to reach Mutiple Sclerosis Society goal of $600,000
October 14, 2021

After a year’s hiatus due to the pandemic, Bike MS: Bike to the Bay got back on the road Oct. 9 and 10. Although the number of cyclists was several hundred off the previous average, they still were well on their way to reaching the Multiple Sclerosis Society goal of $600,000. Choosing from distances of 75, 50 and 20 miles, cyclists all ended with a party and events at Delaware Seashore State Park. While many of the nearly 400 riders chose the one-day option, some got back on their bikes early Oct. 10 for a return to Delaware Technical Community College Terry Campus in Dover, where the 75-mile originated. The 50-mile ride started at Lake Forest High School near Felton, and the 20-mile ride started at Sussex Consortium near Lewes, the location of a new rest stop manned by the Odd Fellows and Rebekahs. The groups offered their popular baked goods, and scrapple and sausage sandwiches.
