Bling Hottie Medical LLC, based in Sussex County, is officially bringing color, confidence and creativity to the lives of cane users everywhere.
Founded by a mother-daughter duo, Diedra Harris Easley and India Easley, Bling Hottie Medical LLC offers fashionable, functional cane tips that turn a daily necessity into a statement of style. The cane tips are available in both single- and four-pronged styles; they’re built for safety while reminding users that mobility support doesn’t have to be plain or dull. "I want people to realize the cane is your friend,” said Harris Easley.
The inspiration for the business came when Harris Easley began using a cane after knee surgeries and noticed the stigma often associated with mobility aids. So she decided to design her own “badazzeld” cane. She was soon stopped by numerous strangers in public asking where they could buy one for themselves. This led her and her daughter to officially establish Bling Hottie Medical LLC.
“You can be any age,” Harris Easley said. “It was associated a long time ago with being old. It doesn’t have to be that way. It can be beautiful.”
Looking into the future, the founders plan to continue expanding their audience reach and product offerings. They hope to continue to grow their online presence, introduce new designs and continue their mission of empowering mobility aid users with style. They also hope to expand the products available, including apparel and accessories, all centered on their message of celebrating empowerment.
“I want Bling Hottie to be like, they say, ‘Oh, I got this at Bling Hottie.’ ‘Oh yeah, I got this cute little Christmas T-shirt at Bling Hottie.’ It’s not just for people with disabilities, but that’s my main focus. We want our name to be recognized,” said Harris Easley.
