The Blue Hen Youth Baseball Camp made its third yearly visit to the Lewes Little League complex, where 53 young players learned skills that could make them the future Aaron Judge, Shohei Ohtani, Ronald Acuna Jr. or even Bryce Harper.
The camp is run by high school coaches, high school players and college baseball stars.
Sussex Central head coach D.J. Long, who played at the University of Delaware 2010-13, is the director of the camp that was held June 24-27.
“I love having the camp,” said Long. “This is the third year we have done it downstate. Being able to help local kids, having college players come down to show them different skills, I think it is very beneficial to their growth as players. It’s awesome to see them compete against one another throughout the week and improve on their fundamentals.”
The campers gained experience in hitting, base running, outfield play, infield play and pitching.
