Bonnie Mae West, retired Family Court clerk
Bonnie Mae West, 78, of Georgetown, passed away Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Bayhealth Sussex Campus in Milford, surrounded by her loving family.
Bonnie was born Oct. 2, 1944, in Milford, to her parents, Martin and Ruth May (Taylor) Lecates.
She retired in 2008, as a clerk in Family Court after 25 years of service. She was an avid stockcar race fan, but most of all she loved spending time with family, especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Bonnie was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Georgetown.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents; loving husband Jerry West; two sons, Kevin and Kyle West; and two brothers Johnnie and Jimmy Lecates. She is survived by her son, Richard West (Nancy) of Georgetown; grandchildren, Ashley West (fiancé Zac), Sarah Farrow, Kevin West (Shana), Alan West (Shannon) and Jefferey West (Logan); 10 great-grandchildren; two brothers, William Lecates (Chris) and Darryl Lecates (Edith); and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Wednesday, May 17, at Short Funeral Services, 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, with a funeral beginning at 1 p.m.
Arrangements are in the care of Short Funeral Services, Georgetown.
