Boys & Girls Club to offer free art classes
The Rehoboth Boys & Girls Club is offering free art classes by the Pegasus Artworks Program. This program is only available to Boys & Girls Club members, so each participant will be asked to become a member of the Boys & Girls Club.
This annual fee is $15 at the Rehoboth site. These free art classes will be held every Tuesday. Students ages 5-9 will have an hour-long class from 4:30-5:30 p.m. and students ages 10-15 will have an hour-long class from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
The main purpose of the Pegasus Artworks is to expose youth and their community to professional artists and to show how art can be a powerful tool for them in everyday life. The program teaches individual confidence, understanding and growth.
This program gives youth an opportunity to be a part of something they might have never known about without this program.
Pegasus artists have an average of seven years of exhibition experience or the equivalent time with a bachelor’s degree in art or other experience teaching art (or in a closely related field).
Jennifer August, who will be offering instruction at the Rehoboth Boys & Girls Club, has over 25 years of experience in the field of art therapy.
She is currently a registered clinical art therapist/verbal therapist/crisis interventionist at The Art Therapy Way in Lewes, where she has practiced since 1992. She can be reached at 302-381-0121.
