Brenda Hackett-Brown receives Beebe L.O.V.E. Letter Award

Beebe Healthcare has recognized Brenda Hackett-Brown, physical therapist, as the April 2019 Living Our Values Every Day Letter Award recipient.

Hackett-Brown was recognized for going above and beyond to help a visitor navigate the hospital and get a meal from the cafeteria. Joseph Skocypec, director of clinical operations for physical rehabilitation, who submitted her L.O.V.E. Letter, wrote, “I observed Brenda assisting a visitor into a wheelchair who was having difficulty walking down the hall.

She then asked where he would like to go and his response was he needed to grab something to eat. She took him to the cafeteria, read him all the meal options, gathered his selections and wheeled him to the register for payment,” he said. “We thought she knew this visitor well when she reached for her badge to provide payment for his meal.”

When Hackett-Brown’s colleagues asked her how she knew the gentleman, she said, “I have no idea who he is. He just looked like he needed some help and a bite to eat.”

Skocypec said, “We were floored by her generosity and overwhelmed with emotion. What she did that day will always stick with me.”

Hackett-Brown demonstrates many of the Beebe values, including acting with passion and love for others to make a difference, treating each individual with respect and dignity, and building trusting relationships with compassion and kindness.

Winners are announced in a surprise ceremony in which the committee visits the winner in his or her department and presents the award. Employees selected for the award receive a parking space in the parking garage for one month; a $100 gift card; 100 points toward Beebe L.O.V.E. Notes merchandise; a letter of congratulations and personal visit from members of the executive team; their photo added to the L.O.V.E. Letter wall plaque; a letter to the team member's director; and department recognition.
