Brian Calloway appointed chair of Delaware Police Accreditation Committee

Currently serves as police chief of Millsboro
January 29, 2019

The Town of Millsboro is proud to announce that Chief Brian Calloway has been appointed the chair of the Delaware Police Accreditation Committee.

“Mayor and Council and I could not be happier for Chief Calloway,” said Sheldon P. Hudson, Millsboro town manager. “Chief Calloway is the kind of leader all public servants should aspire to be. He always seems to somehow strike the right balance between diplomacy and firmness. I have no doubt that he will serve DPAC extraordinarily well.”

Calloway was appointed the chief of police for the Town of Millsboro in January 2016. Since taking over, Calloway has been moving the department forward. In 2009, Calloway worked tirelessly, achieving national accreditation for the Millsboro Police Department through the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies. Calloway has continued to work to uphold the level of professionalism required to maintain accreditation through CALEA.

As chair of DPAC, Calloway will strive to hold law enforcement agencies around the state to the same standards to which he has held the Millsboro Police Department during his tenure as chief of police.

The current goal of DPAC is to solicit six more agencies to become state accredited. The overall goal of the committee is to make Delaware police agencies more professional; develop professional standards; and hold agencies accountable to those standards.

Calloway’s main responsibilities as the chair of the committee will be to solicit new agencies - coordinating an assessment of each new agency and submitting recommendations to the Delaware Department of Safety and Homeland Security as to whether or not the agency meets the standards set forth by the committee.

Calloway stated, “My goal for this position is to assist Delaware agencies in developing professional standards - building upon their strengths in order to keep Delaware leading the way in providing professional law enforcement services.”
