A bright-yellow, four-wheeled enigma

June 18, 2024

By all accounts, the fleet of buses carrying travelers from Five Points to the Bandstand in Rehoboth is a success. Fewer cars are tacking their way around Rehoboth Avenue; the cost of the ride is reasonable; and the buses are often filled with passengers.

There is, however, something peculiar about one of the buses in the convoy. Bus 22007, with a Delaware license plate, is enveloped with a vehicle advertisement wrap for Ocean City, Md. One might question why a Delaware conveyance is not promoting Bethany Beach, Fenwick Island, Dewey Beach, Rehoboth Beach or Lewes. Perhaps none of these seaside communities desired to pony up the funds necessary to pay for the advertisement. Perhaps, Ocean City opened up its coffers and offered a hefty sum for the advertisement.

Regardless, each time I see this bright-yellow, four-wheeled enigma motoring down Route 1, I’m left with the same question. Why?
