Brimming Horn to celebrate In Praise of Bacchus mead release Feb. 16, 17, 24

February 15, 2018

The Roman god Bacchus is well known for his love of wine, as well as a love of agriculture, drama and revelry. Brimming Horn's fascination with mythology led mead-maker Jon Talkington down the stone-paved streets of Heliopolis into the temple of Bacchus.

In Praise of Bacchus was constructed out of fruits and spices closely associated with the ancient wine god. Made from red grapes, figs, cinnamon, and of course pure honey, this mead is sure to please the most ardent Roman gods and goddesses. Talkington said, "This mead is dedicated to the ancient wine god Bacchus and to one of my favorite musicians who left this world - both live in my heart and soul. Mead, music and creative madness come together to bring the world something of divine flavor. Enjoy the complex fermentation of honey, grape, and Vietnamese cinnamon. Deep garnet in color, aroma of spiced jam, sweet flavors of dark ripe fruit, vanilla, spice and caramel."

Brimming Horn will release In Praise of Bacchus Friday, Feb. 16, for $26.99. It's their first mead using beautiful 500 ml ceramic wine bottles from Germany.

To celebrate the release, Dixie's Down Home Cooking food truck will be onsite after 1 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 17, and Delaware’s own band Bastion’s Wake will play from 5 to 7 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 24, as Brimming Horn continues to transform Bacchus from the god of wine to the god of mead.
