British invasion returns to Lewes with classic vehicle show May 2

April 23, 2026

The Lewes British Motorcar Show, The British are Coming...Again! will welcome a wide array of classic British vehicles to Lewes from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, May 2, at the Lewes Ferry Terminal, 43 Cape Henlopen Drive. There is no rain date this year, and no spectator entry is allowed after 2 p.m.

The Lewes Chamber of Commerce and the British Car Club of Delaware are co-sponsors of the show. It is also supported by Southern Delaware Tourism.

Thirty-one years ago, car show founder Mike Tyler and the British Car Club of Delaware originated the concept of staging a British Motorcar Show in the spring to attract visitors to Lewes before the summer season gets into full swing. This year’s event committee has selected Morgan as the 2026 show’s Featured Marque.

Four years ago, the show introduced Future Classics as a new vehicle category comprising model years 2001 to the present. In past years, only British-made classic vehicles produced from model year 2000 and earlier were displayed. Both future and older classic vehicles are eligible for show registration. Due to space limitations, only 120 cars can be displayed, so registrations are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, and as of mid-April, capacity has almost been reached.

Lewes Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Betsy Reamer said, “The popularity of this show has continued to grow over the years, and the show’s venue at the Cape May-Lewes Ferry terminal in Lewes allows for staging 120 vehicles with the backdrop of the beautiful Delaware Bay.” Amenities at the terminal include food and beverage service at the Lewes Coffee Company and Grain on the Rocks, and public restrooms.

Six judges will select the winners in each of 12 classes and present first-, second- and third-place award plaques as well as a Best in Show award. The judges are represented by the British Car Club of Delaware, Lewes Chamber of Commerce, City of Lewes and WRDE-TV. British Car Club member Jack Long will coordinate the judging.

The awards presentation will begin at about 2:15 p.m., and the show will wrap up at 3 p.m. with a parade of the British car entrants from the ferry terminal, across the drawbridge and along Second Street.
