Bruce R. Trethewey Sr., cherished his family

Bruce R. Trethewey Sr., 86, of Rehoboth Beach passed away Sunday, Feb. 14, 2021, at his home.  He was born Dec. 30, 1934, in Boyertown, Pa., son of the late Burlyn Trethewey and Mildred (Drumheller) Ragan.

Mr. Trethewey built a career as a shift supervisor, working for SPI Pharma at their Lewes plant for 19 dedicated years, retiring in 1999.  His interests were many and varied.  He was an avid collector of cars and attended car shows at every opportunity.  He built model airplanes and enjoyed time on the water boating and on the open road on his motorcycle.  Mr. Trethewey was known as “Mr. Fix-It,” and family and friends could always count on him when they needed something repaired.  Above all, he cherished time spent with those he held most dear - his family.  More than anything, Mr. Trethewey was a family man, and nothing was more important to him.  He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Trethewey is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Laura (Evans) Trethewey; his children: Bruce R. Trethewey Jr. (Cathy) of Finksburg, Md., Diane Morgan of Milton and Brenda Meding (Scott Banks) of Milton; and his grandchildren: Matthew Trethewey, Michael Trethewey, Jennifer Mercedes (Raffy), Brian Meding, Sarah Meding and Eric Meding.

Services will be private.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Parsell Funeral Homes and Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions in Mr. Trethewey’s memory to Vitas Hospice, 30265 Commerce Drive, Suites 202-203, Millsboro, DE  19966.
