November 16, 2021

No supply chain problems can interfere with getting tickets for Possum Point Players’ holiday production of "Elf The Musical," set for Friday to Sunday, Dec. 3 to 5, and Dec. 10 to 12. Performances are at 7:30 p.m., Fridays and 2 p.m., Saturdays and Sundays.

Some shows are already filling up. Patrons are encouraged to purchase soon to make sure they get tickets for the date they prefer.

By staging two matinees each weekend, the players are happy to give families and others a chance to see this holiday favorite and be home by early evening.

Tickets for this family show are now on sale at $27 for adults, and $25 for senior citizens and students. To purchase tickets, go to possumpointplayers.org.

Adapted from the popular 2003 "Elf" movie, "Elf The Musical" is directed by Kenney Workman of Milford. Georgetown resident Diane Trautman is music director and Bliss Soucek of Milford is choreographer.

On stage in Possum Hall, the story introduces Buddy, a young orphan who mistakenly crawled into Santa's bag of gifts and was transported to the North Pole one Christmas Eve. The foundling youngster is lovingly raised as an elf, and no one is aware that he is actually a human until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities give him away.

With Santa's permission, Buddy embarks on a journey to New York City to find his birth father and discover his true identity. He discovers the harsh realities that his father is on the naughty list and his half-brother doesn't even believe in Santa. Raised with positive thinking and good cheer, Buddy is determined to win over his new family and help New York remember the true meaning of Christmas.

Cast members in this holiday production are from more than a dozen area communities throughout central and southern Delaware. Claudius Bowden, Jim Hartzell and Tommy Ray Chedester are from Georgetown, and Abbie Porter and Kierstyn Woody are Seaford residents. Andrew Hertzberg and John Zinzi hail from Milton, and Michael Murnin and Steven Perry reside in Rehoboth Beach.

Malcolm Keen and Kevin Kirk are from Lewes, and Amy Baker-Sheridan and Finn Sheridan are Frankford residents. Steven Dow is from Felton; Jake Darmstadter hails from Millsboro; Julianna Markel is from Smyrna; DavShawn Brewer is from Lincoln. Whitney Cook lives in Delmar, and Greg Breitkreitz resides in Viola; Shayla Macklin is from Selbyville.

In an abundance of caution and caring for all patrons and volunteers, Possum Point Players will require attendees to wear face masks upon entering and throughout the show.

Becoming a modern-day holiday classic, "Elf The Musical" is sure to make everyone embrace their inner elf. The Possums cast members are dedicated to showing that the best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear.

“Elf, The Musical” is presented through special arrangement with Music Theatre International. All authorized performance materials are also supplied by MTI.
