Cancer Support Community to host Wings of Hope Aug. 1

Butterfly release honors and remembers loved ones
July 3, 2020

The 10th Annual Wings of Hope...A Butterfly Release to benefit the Cancer Support Community Delaware will be held at 9 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 1, outside Beebe’s Tunnell Cancer Center, 18947 John J. Williams Highway, Rehoboth Beach.

The event is highlighted by the release of monarch butterflies in recognition of family, friends and neighbors throughout Sussex County whose lives have been affected by cancer. Incyte Corp. is the presenting sponsor, along with other generous sponsors, M&T Bank, Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge 2540, Mallard Financial, Cape Pharmacy, Sussex Eye Center, Kids Cottage, Village Salon & Spa, Apple Electric, PNC Investments, and an anonymous sponsor whose support will help reduce the cost of a live butterfly to $25.

Wings of Hope is for all ages. The event includes music by Nancy Curry from Ginger, Leah Kompare from Cape Henlopen High School Class of 2020, and a beautiful postcard available for purchase, from an original design by local artist Siobhan Duggan. Live demonstrations, vendors and food trucks will also be onsite for the event. There will be a display of seeded butterflies and paper butterflies, and an exquisite garden donated by Sposato Landscaping with live plants for sale.

Live and seeded butterflies are available for purchase to symbolize the special lives affected by cancer.

Seeded butterflies will be mailed for purchasers to plant and grow new life in honor and memory of loved ones.
