Cape boys’ lacrosse holds end-of-season banquet

The state champion boys’ lacrosse team of Cape Henlopen celebrated its season June 13 at The Ivy in Dewey Beach.

The varsity Sportsmanship Award was presented to Sean Griffith. Will Bragg and Jaden Davis were given the Most Improved Award. Billy Ott and Ben Weathersby were presented the Spirit Award. The Tim Mahoney Big Game Award was presented to Baxter Travers. Brody McMahon was given the Unsung Hero Award. The defensive MVP went to Matt Prestipino. There was no Offensive MVP Award given because two MVP Awards were given. The MVP Awards went to Luke D’Ambrogi and Jack Dennis. The Iron Viking Award was presented to Blake Gipko from assistant coach Jack Lingo.

D’Ambrogi, Dennis and Prestipino received first-team all-state honors, with D’Ambrogi and Dennis also receiving All-American honors.

Gabe Best received second-team all-state, while Greg Boyce received third-team all-state honors.

JV players receiving awards were Owen Dorman, Defensive MVP; Jake Truitt, Offensive MVP; Daniel Saez, Unsung Hero; and Nathan Loucks, Team MVP Award.
