Cape educators attend minority leadership conference

March 22, 2020

Members of the Ethnic Minority Affairs Committee from the Cape Henlopen School District attended the Delaware State Education Association’s 10th Annual Minority Leadership Conference Feb. 29.

This year’s theme was Amplifying Voices: Learning and Teaching for Change. The keynote speaker was Beatrice Coker, the 2019 John H. Taylor Educational Leader Award recipient.

Breakout sessions included Welcoming Schools – Embracing Family Diversity and Introductions to and Navigating Conversations Around Equity.

By looking at themselves and their experiences, and how they have formed their own thoughts and opinions that affect their dispositions and relationships, attendees learned the importance of seeing and embracing family diversity, as well as beginning the approach to awareness, equity and socially just learning environments.
