Cape football holds awards banquet

The Cape Henlopen football team held its 2025 end-of-season awards banquet Feb. 9 at the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center.
The Vikings went 6-5, including an undefeated 5-0 record at Legends Stadium.
The MVP Award was presented to junior quarterback Jameson Tingle.
The Viking Award and the Maxwell Club Award were presented to senior Dell Richards.
Senior Robbie Payton received the Defensive Player of the Year Award, while the Defensive Lineman of the Year Award went to sophomore Javier Morales.
The Captain Award was presented to senior Trey Batson.
The Offensive Player of the Year Award went to Ty Handy, while the Offensive Lineman of the Year Award and the Sportsmanship Award went to senior Liam Ramsey.
The Legends Award was presented to senior Braden Wiswall.
The Newcomer of the Year Award went to Drew Messick, while a second Newcomer of the Year Award went to Riley Baum.
The Special Teams Player of the Year was presented to punter Navin Duffy.





Dan has worked for the Cape Gazette for more than 30 years as a photographer and reporter, covering high school sports and happenings around eastern Sussex County. He won a photography award from the National Newspaper Association, and numerous awards from the Maryland, Delaware, D.C. Press Association. A Delaware native, Dan graduated from Cape in 1972 and returned as a teacher and coach in the 1980s. He retired from the classroom in 2016. He was inducted into Cape High’s Legends Stadium in 2016. In his spare time, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, grandchildren and dogs.
